Carlos Algara graduated with a B.A. from The Technological Institute of Higher Education of Monterrey, Mexico. His first student short film was named "1/4 of Solitude", which he wrote and co-directed with a fellow student. He then worked in several TV commercial s and music videos in Mexico. In 2010 his undergraduate thesis short film El intruso (2010), was released at the 13th Shanghai Int. Film Festival and got nominated for Best Short and Best Directing. It was also selected at the 41st Int. Film Festival of India and was award ed the "Silver Goat" at the 6th Monterrey Int. Film Festival. In March of 2011 him and fellow director Alejandro Martinez-Beltran opened the production company The Visualistas, in Los Angeles. As of August 2011 he's been studying in Canada for a degree on Writing for Film and Television at the Vancouver Film School.
His father is a Pilot and his mother is a Teacher.Studied music and composition for 1 year after graduating from high school, at Fermatta College of Music, in Mexico City.Has played the guitar since he was 15 years old.Earned his Undergraduate Degree at ITESM (Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey), in Monterrey, Mexico.Enjoys singing and writing music.Is engaged to be married to his long time girlfriend Sofía Garza Guerra (September, 2010).Was awarded with the "Silver Goat" at the 6th Monterrey International Film Festival for his short film El intruso (2010).
